Fangirl Friday: Christine Warren

May 30, 2008 at 6:00 am | Category: blog

Two words.  Fantasy Fix.

I got my first taste of Christine Warren at Ellora’s Cave.  Her Fixed series snagged me from the start.  It was fun and snarky and sexy and everything I like in a good paranormal.

In fact, her books were among the first paranormals I ever read.  Before that, I was a mainstream historical junkie.  I still love a good historical, but you can count me in as a true paranormal Fangirl.  However, I’ll save that topic for another Friday. ;-)

Here’s the thing with Christine.  I found her at Ellora’s Cave, but after reading the first Fixed books, I anxiously awaited the next installment.  Only, it didn’t come.  Not at Ellora’s Cave, anyway.  I was so bummed after checking and waiting and checking again.  Until I finally decided to get to the bottom of why one of my new favorite authors wasn’t pounding out the books for my reading enjoyment.

I went to her site.  And there, with a shiny new series name, were the next TWO installments in The Novels of the Others.  The fabulous Ms. Warren had been picked up by St. Martin’s Press.  Of course, I raced to my local book store to get both books immediately.  And, of course, I wasn’t disappointed.  Her world had not changed.  It was just as fun and snarky and sexy as I remembered.

According to her website, the next book, Walk on the Wild Side is due out in June 2008.  Can’t wait!

Got any fun, snarky, sexy books or authors you love?  Who do you run out to buy the second they have a book out?

Awesome! I’ll have to check out her site. I love finding new authors. I just got the new Julia Quinn book and plan on taking that camping with me this weekend!

Have a great one!

That’s so cool, Kaige. Let me know what you thought of Julia’s new book when you get back. It looks like you’re going to have a great weekend for camping too. Have fun!

I love her. And I can’t wait for the new book.
My other snarky, paranormal fav is Mary Janice Davidson’s Undead series. I adore Betsy, the Vampire Queen. Just one tiny thing to get you interested. Her stepmother actually was the Devil for a short period of time.

ROFL, Lia! I love MJ. The Undead series in one of the few 1st person books I actually like. She also has a great YA series out. In fact, the last I checked on her site, my name was there as a review quote for the first two in the series. ;-) You should check them out. Jennifer Scales. Love it! She writes them with her husband, Anthony Alongi. Hmmm…that might be another good one for a future Fangirl Friday.

The weather was awesome — a bit chilly Friday night, but Saturday was great. The mosquitoes thought so too =P

I just finished the new JQ — I didn’t get a chance to read this weekend, everyone wanted to talk my ear off.

It was good. It was a bit different from the Bridgerton series, but that’s a good thing too. It was more cynical in some ways than her other books, even with the quick, witty banter going on. I really liked it and I can’t wait until the sequel comes out later this year.
